Sustainability and community

Powered by renewable energy. Driven by responsible racing.

At Raceworld Indoor Karting, we are committed to operating in a responsible, sustainable and community focused way. Based at Greendale Business Park, we benefit from locally generated renewable energy, alongside ongoing improvements to efficiency, waste reduction, safety and community support.

Our sustainability commitment

Sustainability is an ongoing journey for Raceworld. As an indoor leisure and business events venue, we recognise the importance of reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, supporting local suppliers and creating a safe, inclusive and positive workplace.

Our approach is practical and honest: we focus on improvements that make a real difference to our venue, our customers, our employees and our local community.

Powered by Cow Poo

Turning poo into power at Greendale

Raceworld is proud to be located on Greendale Business Park, where renewable electricity is generated locally using Greendale’s anaerobic digestion plant. In simple terms, natural farm materials are turned into biogas, which is then used to generate electricity for businesses across the site.

🐄 Cow poo Collected from Greendale’s cows and used as part of the plant’s natural fuel.
🌾 Crops Farm grown crops help create the right mix for reliable renewable energy.
💧 Rainwater Collected water helps create the balanced mix needed by the AD plant.
Renewable energy Biogas is used to generate electricity for Greendale businesses.
🏁 Raceworld Our venue benefits from renewable electricity generated right here on site.

It might sound unusual, but it is a brilliant example of local farming and local businesses working together. Cow poo, crops and rainwater help create renewable electricity, with the remaining digestate reused as natural fertiliser for the farm.

How the anaerobic digestion plant works

An anaerobic digestion plant is a special system where organic matter is broken down by naturally occurring bacteria in a warm, dark, oxygen free chamber. This produces biogas, which can then be used to generate electricity.

50t Approximate amount of cow poo collected each day.
1.3MW Electricity generated per hour by the Greendale AD plant.
100% Of the electricity from the AD plant is used to power Greendale businesses.
90°C Heat is reused to support the digestion process and dry digestate.

This creates a sustainable loop: farm materials help generate power, the heat is reused, and the remaining digestate can be returned to the land as natural fertiliser.
